Field service is a critical business line for Michelli. Our team of technicians leads and excels in industrial weighing and measurement by solving customer problems through technical expertise, systems engineering, and deep knowledge of customer processes and requirements.
The Field Service Technician Level I is a position responsible for providing on-site calibration, minor repairs, and installation of industrial weighing equipment, control systems, and peripheral devices. Technicians may work independently or as part of a regional field service team. This role emphasizes customer relations, efficient time management, and adherence to personal and workplace safety standards.

Main Responsibilities
- Complete/Maintain safety training and all relevant job- and technical-related training to understand the industrial service business and demonstrate safe work practices.
- Perform all work safely, including completing job safety analyses and site-specific safety training.
- Safely operate company vehicles and equipment, including potentially operating heavy-capacity test units at job sites.
- Successfully complete the Michelli Level I training program, including on-the-job training (OJT), and demonstrate competency in mechanical and electronic service duties as evaluated by senior technicians and managers.
- Complete HB-44 training and perform thorough on-site calibrations of weighing and material handling systems, including heavy-capacity scales.
- Assist a mentor in responding to emergency field service requests, diagnosing issues, and completing repairs. Participate in rotational after-hours on-call duty.
- Accurately complete calibration test reports, work orders, safety documentation, and daily service logs while on-site.
- Maintain professional communication with customers regarding schedules, service status, and report findings.
- Promote Michelli’s products and services as solutions to customer challenges, and collaborate with the team to generate leads and quotes.
- Work closely with the service coordinator and service manager to meet customer expectations and achieve productivity targets.
- Identify and report leads for contracts, major service jobs, and product/solution opportunities to coordinators and managers.
- Travel with senior technicians to customer sites (locally or regionally) to provide on-site service and support.

Requirements
- Technical aptitude in mechanical and electronic systems; a vocational training certificate, military experience, or an associate degree in industrial controls is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and take accurate measurements.
- Physical ability to lift and handle weights exceeding 50 lbs.
- Ability to pass the state Weights and Measures Exam and obtain necessary licenses.
- Has a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
- Familiarity with industrial service tools and power equipment; torching and welding experience is a plus.
- Travel 100 miles radius from the office. (company vehicle provided)
- Strong team orientation and the ability to contribute to group goals and initiatives.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to continuous learning and career progression, with the expectation to advance to Field Service Technician Level II generally within 2-3 years.
Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
