We're a local cupcake and dessert shop in Tomball, bringing fresh cupcakes, custom cakes, cookies, and homemade ice cream to our neighbors' everyday moments and celebrations. Job Overview
We're hiring a Cake Decorator to join our small but dedicated team and bring celebration and joy to every order. You'll decorate custom cakes, cupcakes, and cookies with intricate designs, themes, and personalized touches — combining creativity with precision to craft desserts that are as beautiful as they are delicious.
Responsibilities
- Decorate cakes, cupcakes, and cookies using piping techniques, fondant, and edible decorations, based on customer orders
- Follow our standards while adding your own creative touch to designs
- Package finished products securely for retail display or customer pickup, ensuring presentation quality
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food safety standards and sanitation protocols
- Interact with customers in-person and by phone to understand their vision and address custom design requests
- Contribute ideas for new designs, flavors, or ways to serve our community better
- Manage multiple orders and stay organized during busy times
Requirements
- Proven experience in cake decorating (home decorating counts!)
- Strong skills with piping, fondant work, or willingness to learn our techniques
- Excellent attention to detail combined with creativity — our customers trust us to get their cakes just right
- Ability to manage multiple orders and stay organized during busy periods
- Customer service experience, with the ability to communicate effectively about custom designs and preferences
- Team player who can take direction and also work independently
Preferred (but not required):
- Food Handler's Certificate (or willing to obtain one)
- Experience with custom cake orders
- Knowledge of current cake trends and design techniques
Schedule
- 20–40 hours per week, schedule discussed during interview process
Compensation & Benefits
- $10–$20 per hour, depending on experience and expertise
