Overview
We are a family‑owned beverage manufacturer seeking an Assistant Controller to partner closely with our Corporate Controller in leading accounting, cost accounting, reporting, and internal controls. This role is suited for an experienced manufacturing or cost accounting professional ready to step into broader financial leadership with company‑wide impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Controller in directing accounting functions including cost accounting, payables, and financial reporting
- Oversee preparation of monthly reporting and required filings
- Contribute to budgeting, financial planning, and budgetary controls
- Ensure GAAP‑compliant policies, procedures, and internal controls are documented and followed
- Review inventory, manufacturing costs, and variance analysis
- Coordinate audit preparation and work with external auditors
- Provide guidance and limited supervision/training to accounting staff
- Partner with operations on process improvement and financial insight
- Support payroll processes and controls as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years progressive accounting experience
- Manufacturing and cost accounting experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of inventory flow and total company impact
- Solid knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience (SAP B1 or MS Dynamics) helpful
- Analytical, detail‑oriented, and improvement‑minded
Candidates without manufacturing or inventory/cost accounting experience are unlikely to be successful in this role.
