Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience preparing and reviewing complex individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns, with a strong emphasis on Forms 1040, 1065, and 1120. This position requires strong technical tax knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements while maintaining exceptional accuracy and client service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns, including:
- Form 1040 – Individual Income Tax Returns
- Form 1065 – Partnership Tax Returns
- Form 1120 and 1120S – Corporate Tax Returns
- Analyze financial records and supporting documentation to ensure accurate tax reporting.
- Research tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and strategies for clients.
- Review client bookkeeping and financial statements for tax preparation purposes.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide tax guidance.
- Assist clients with IRS and state tax notices, audits, and inquiries.
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff.
- Manage multiple client deadlines and ensure timely filing of returns.
- Stay current on changes in federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Assist with tax projections, estimated tax calculations, and year-end tax planning.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 8+ years of public accounting and/or accounting firm tax experience.
- Significant experience preparing and reviewing the following:
- Form 1040 returns
- Form 1065 partnership returns
- Form 1120/1120S corporate returns
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software such as UltraTax
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, SAGE and Microsoft Excel software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Must be able to work 40-60 hours during busy tax season
- This position is hybrid not completely remote, some time in the office weekly
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
