Key Responsibilities
Safety & OSHA Compliance
- Enforce OSHA safety requirements including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and safe work practices
- Ensure PPE compliance across all machine room personnel
- Verify safe startup, shutdown, and maintenance coordination procedures
- Ensure all incidents, near-misses, and hazards are reported immediately
- Support investigations and corrective actions when safety issues occur
Machine Operations
- Oversee all paper machine operations during the shift
- Monitor and adjust key controls such as basis weight, moisture, caliper, formation, and speed
- Manage grade changes, startups, and shutdowns
- Troubleshoot issues including sheet breaks, vacuum problems, drainage issues, and quality defects
- Coordinate with beater room to ensure consistent stock supply
Production & Quality
- Ensure paper meets production and quality specifications
- Monitor waste, downtime, and machine efficiency
- Ensure accurate recording of production data and shift reports
Maintenance Coordination
- Work with maintenance to support repairs and preventive maintenance
- Ensure equipment is properly locked out before maintenance begins
- Report equipment issues promptly to avoid production loss
Leadership
- Supervise machine room operators and assign shift duties
- Provide training and reinforcement of proper operating procedures
- Maintain clear communication during shift handoffs
- Step in during operational upsets to stabilize production

Qualifications
- 3–5 years experience in paper machine operations or heavy manufacturing
- Strong understanding of paper machine systems and wet/dry end operations
- Mechanical troubleshooting experience
- Leadership experience in shift-based production environments

Pay is $60000/yr
Overtime is paid out after 8 hours
Saturday is always overtime (1.5)
Sunday is always double-time
