Responsibilities
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and best practices for food handling.
- Preparing meals to a high standard and ensuring that every dish is both nutritious and visually appealing for our residents.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service during peak hours.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including proper storage of ingredients and supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and make manager aware as necessary.
- Complete food & equipment temperature logs.
Qualifications
- Culinary certification or relevant professional training preferred (e.g., diploma or degree in culinary arts)
- Experience in food preparation and kitchen operations, ideally in a care, healthcare, or hospitality setting
- Ability to prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals catering to various dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, pureed diets)
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Attention to detail in food presentation
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with kitchen staff and care teams
- Compassion and understanding of the needs of elderly residents.
- Flexibility to adapt menus based on resident feedback and seasonal ingredients
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food handling practices.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
