Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instructional Aide to join our team at Jordan Bank School. The ideal candidate will support classroom teachers in providing a positive and effective learning environment for students. This part-time (5.5 hours a day) position is essential in assisting with the implementation of instructional plans, fostering student engagement, and promoting academic success. The Instructional Aide will work closely with students, teachers, and other staff members to ensure that all students receive the support they need to thrive.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Support individual and small group instruction to reinforce learning concepts.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance and behavior.
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement.
- Assist with classroom management and discipline as directed by the teacher.
- Provide support for students with special needs, including implementing accommodations and modifications as required.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform administrative tasks such as grading assignments, maintaining student records, and preparing reports as needed.
Requirements
- Instructional paraprofessionals employed in a Title I school-wide building or working in a program supported with Title I funds must have a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent. Additionally, they must meet ONE of the requirements listed below:
- An associate degree or higher; or
- Completed at least two years of postsecondary study (48 credits); or
- The successful completion of a state or locally developed assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teachers.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Knowledge of child development and effective teaching strategies is a plus.
- Ability to lift and assist students as needed, including those with physical disabilities.
- Must pass background checks and comply with school district policies and procedures.
