The Middle School Soccer Coach leads, develops, and oversees the middle school soccer program. This position is responsible for teaching fundamental skills, executing effective team strategies, promoting athletic development, and cultivating a positive, disciplined, and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will serve as a strong role model, prioritizing sportsmanship, safety, and character development alongside athletic growth.
Design and execute age-appropriate practice plans focused on core soccer fundamentals, including passing, shooting, dribbling, and tactical positioning.
Implement progressive drills that improve individual technical ability, team execution, and overall athletic conditioning.
Evaluate student-athlete skills to provide constructive feedback and support personal growth.
Manage team selection, roster management, and playing time allocation aligned with school and athletic department policy.
Develop game plans, tactical strategies, and in-game adjustments for offensive and defensive systems.
Foster a competitive yet supportive team culture centered on accountability, effort, and high morale.
Ensure athlete safety during all practices, games, and team travel.
Instruct players on proper conditioning, warm-up/cool-down routines, and injury prevention techniques.
Identify, report, and manage injuries in accordance with school health policies and athletic trainer guidelines.
Inspect equipment and facilities regularly to guarantee proper condition, setup, and safety standards.
Maintain clear, proactive communication with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and athletic directors regarding schedules, expectations, and logistics.
Ensure full compliance with all school district, league, and state athletic association regulations.
Coordinate transport, facility use, and game logistics with the Athletic Department.
Model and enforce high standards of sportsmanship, respect, and fair play on and off the field.
Monitor the academic standing and behavior of student-athletes, reinforcing the principle of the student-athlete.
Experience: Prior coaching or playing experience in soccer (middle/high school level or youth club preferred).
Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Certifications: First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (or willingness to obtain before season start). NFHS coaching certifications preferred.
Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to motivate and guide middle-school-aged youth.
