Responsibilities
- Safely operate various delivery vehicles, including box trucks and courier vans, following all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Deliver parcels along assigned rural routes with precision, managing route driving efficiently to meet delivery schedules.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with recipients, answering questions, and ensuring their satisfaction.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to maintain safety standards; report any issues promptly.
- Use handheld devices or route management software to track deliveries, update statuses, and document any delivery exceptions or issues.
- This is a non-career position, which may lead to a career position. RCAs are immediately eligible to enroll in the USPS Health Benefits Plan with a Postal Service premium contribution. Dental and vision insurance through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). After completing one year without a break in service of more than 5 days, RCAs may also be eligible for: health insurance under the Postal Service Health Benefits Program (PSHB); flexible spending account through Inspira Financial and long-term care insurance through the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP). May receive Wounded Warrior leave provided eligibility criteria are met.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in customer service or courier roles with a focus on delivery driving or route management.
- Be able to Travel within 50 miles to local post offices with paid mileage. Privately Owned Automobile $0.725/mile
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating box trucks or commercial vehicles preferred.
- A personal vehicle suitable for use is required for this position
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks regularly.
- Strong knowledge of driving safety practices and route navigation skills in rural areas.
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with customers and team members.
