Front Desk Receptionist – Marion Eye Center

Position Summary
The Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients at Marion Eye Center. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional, and efficient environment by managing patient check-in and check-out, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting payments, and assisting the clinical and optical teams with day-to-day administrative support.
Key Responsibilities

Greet patients and visitors in a courteous, professional manner.

Check patients in and out, confirm appointments, and update demographic and insurance information in the practice management system.

Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments for exams, procedures, and optical services.

Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations as needed.

Collect co-pays, balances, and other payments; issue receipts and maintain accurate cash logs.

Answer and route incoming phone calls; take detailed messages and ensure prompt follow-up.

Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and Marion Eye Center policies.

Assist with scanning, filing, and maintaining patient records.

Support doctors, technicians, and optical staff with patient flow to ensure an efficient schedule.

Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area.

Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous medical office or front desk experience preferred, ophthalmology or optometry experience a plus.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Basic computer skills: experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.

Must be able to sit, stand, and move between exam rooms and the front office as needed.
