Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ultrasound Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in diagnostic medical imaging, anatomy, and physiology. The Ultrasound Technician will perform general diagnostic ultrasound examinations with precision and compassion, supporting patient care through accurate imaging, thorough documentation, and effective communication with physicians and clinical team members.
Duties
- Perform general diagnostic ultrasound examinations based on physician orders and established clinical protocols.
- Conduct studies that may include abdominal, pelvic, renal, thyroid, vascular, venous, arterial, carotid, and other general ultrasound examinations.
- Review physician orders and relevant patient medical history before performing examinations.
- Prepare patients for procedures by clearly explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Position patients appropriately and operate ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology to recognize and document relevant findings.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support accurate and timely interpretation of imaging studies.
- Document examination findings and technical information accurately in patient records.
- Communicate urgent or significant findings to the appropriate physician or clinical team member according to established protocols.
- Follow infection-control and aseptic procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Ensure ultrasound equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, cleaned, and compliant with applicable safety requirements.
- Provide compassionate and professional care to patients, including frail, elderly, and medically complex individuals.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in general diagnostic medical sonography techniques.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Experience performing abdominal, pelvic, vascular, and other general ultrasound studies is preferred.
- Ability to obtain and document high-quality diagnostic images.
- Familiarity with diagnostic radiology practices, electronic medical records, and imaging documentation systems.
- Ability to follow infection-control and patient-safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and clinical judgment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain procedures clearly and interact effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Current ARDMS or ARRT Sonography certification is preferred.
- Current BLS certification is preferred.
