Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Cook/Dietary Aide and an Utility Aide to join our vibrant team in providing exceptional nutrition and meal services within a nursing home. Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble meals according to dietary guidelines, menus, and resident preferences, ensuring adherence to nutritional requirements.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, slicers, and dishwashers, following proper sanitation protocols.
- Assist with food handling, portioning, serving, and bussing to maintain a clean and organized dining area.
- Follow all food safety standards and sanitation procedures to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations such as JCAHO standards.
- Support the dietary department by assisting with manual handling tasks like heavy lifting of supplies or equipment while practicing safe lifting techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, utensils, and dining spaces through regular cleaning and sanitation routines.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting positively with residents or patients, addressing dietary needs, and accommodating special requests when possible.
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or food industry settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of food production, meal preparation, and food safety practices.
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and adhering to workplace safety protocols.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or in dietary departments is advantageous.
- Basic math skills for portioning and inventory management.
- Strong understanding of nutrition principles and dietary requirements for health conditions common among elderly populations.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using proper techniques; physical stamina for standing long periods.
- Certification in CPR and knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) use are preferred but not mandatory.
