We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial standards, and supporting the organization’s financial health. Duties
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using various financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Workday.
- Perform general ledger accounting tasks including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Reconcile accounts regularly to ensure accuracy in the organization’s financial statements and ledgers.
- Support payroll management activities utilizing systems like ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, and Paychex to ensure timely and accurate employee payments.
- Conduct data entry with high precision, including 10 key typing and double-entry bookkeeping to maintain comprehensive financial records.
- Assist with budget preparation, financial reporting, and variance analysis to aid strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and internal audit requirements while supporting external audits as needed.
- Maintain proficiency in various accounting software platforms such as PeopleSoft, FinancialForce, or similar systems to optimize workflow efficiency.
Skills
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices.
- Expertise in financial concepts including debits & credits, account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management.
- Proficiency with multiple financial software tools such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, Paychex or equivalent systems.
- Experience with data analysis using Excel for reporting and insights into financial data trends.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and experience with tax preparation or compliance is a plus.
- Excellent numeracy skills combined with strong attention to detail for precise account analysis and reconciliation tasks.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data accurately while maintaining high levels of confidentiality.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and supporting audit processes.
