We are a heavy volume Multi-Specialty Orthopedic office in Lancaster. We are looking for a Surgery Scheduling Assistant who has excellent communication skills and superb attention to detail to join our Team. .

Requirements:
- Must be experienced and familiar with various Insurance benefits, authorizations and verifications
- Must be experienced and familiar with EHR
- Typing 30 WPM
- Must be experienced and familiar iwth medical terminology
- Must have excellent phone skills
- Must be able to multi-task with little supervision
Preferred:
- Spanish Bilingual
- Medical Assistant (Certified thru AAMA, NCCT or NRCMA)
Surgery Scheduling Functions will consist of, but not limited to:
- Answer high volume call in a professional and courteous manner
- Perform COVID testing on Patients
- Perform Insurance Verifications
- Obtain surgery consents from Patients.
- Perform post-operative phones calls
- Obtains all patient signed consent/authorization forms
- Send DME and Home Helath orders
- Scan medical records
- Miscellanous clerical duties as needed
- Always maintain a professional attitude and appearance via in person or phone. Notify supervisor immediately with any problems.
Additional responsibilities:
- Under direction of the supervisor, conducts on the job training for new employees
- Assist other employees with any additional work when idle
- Performs work of equal skill, effort and responsibility as directed
- May perform work of a higher level in preparation for increased responsibility
- Must be willing to perform any duties asked by management or physicians
- Cross trained to fill in other positions when short staffed at Clinic
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 1 year of on the job training in back office procedures
- ICD-10/CPT knowledge
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to type accurately and comfortable with computers
- Become a key contributor to the enhancement of the quality of patient care as a necessary part of a medical team.
- Understand and observe legal concepts (e.g. HIPAA, confidentiality)
- Multi-task efficiently and effectively as required.
- Work under pressure, within time constraints. Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
- Exhibit excellent listening skills.
- Concentrate on the needs of the provider(s) throughout entire shift
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend and stoop for prolonged periods of time, intermittently throughout an 8 hour shift.
Education and Experience:
- High School Graduate/GED
- Successful graduation from school with medical assistant diploma
- Medical Assistant experience desirable
- Active and current Medical Assistant National Certification required
