Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role involves supporting licensed speech-language pathologists in delivering comprehensive speech therapy services across various settings, including schools, clinics, and telehealth platforms. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in assisting with the implementation of speech-language therapy plans, supporting children and individuals with disabilities, and promoting effective communication development. Responsibilities
Assist licensed speech-language pathologists in delivering speech therapy interventions tailored to individual client needs, including those with language disorders, speech disorders, or developmental delays.
Implement speech-language therapy plans by conducting structured activities and exercises designed to improve communication skills.
Support children and students with disabilities by providing engaging, evidence-based therapy sessions aligned with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including educators, occupational therapists, and medical professionals—to ensure cohesive care strategies.
Utilize your knowledge of physiology and anatomy to support accurate assessment and intervention procedures.
Maintain detailed documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and client communication records in compliance with organizational policies.
Participate in telehealth therapy sessions to extend services remotely, ensuring accessibility for clients in diverse locations.
Support early intervention programs by working closely with young children to foster language development and communication skills from an early age.
Communicate effectively with clients and their families to explain therapy goals, progress, and strategies for continued improvement.
Stay informed about current best practices in speech-language pathology, including bilingual approaches when applicable.
Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant studies or related field; certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant preferred.
Prior experience working with children or individuals with disabilities in educational or clinical settings is highly desirable.
Acute care experience is advantageous for supporting clients in hospital or medical environments.
Familiarity with pediatric language development milestones and early intervention strategies.
Experience working within school systems or special education environments, including familiarity with IEP processes.
Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to speech-language pathology and anatomy related to speech production and swallowing functions.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams across various healthcare settings.
Bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse populations more inclusively.
