A well-established structural engineering firm is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design and quality control of complex structural projects. This role is responsible for producing structural calculations, reviewing drawings, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the highest level of quality across all phases of project delivery.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing structural steel buildings and other complex commercial structures, enjoys mentoring engineers, and has the technical expertise to make engineering decisions independently. The firm is looking for someone who can strengthen its quality control process while supporting project production.
- Lead structural engineering projects from design through construction support
- Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, and design documents
- Perform quality control reviews of engineering plans and construction documents
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers
- Coordinate with architects, owners, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and engineering revisions
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and engineering standards
- Support project planning, scheduling, and technical decision-making
- Identify design issues early and implement practical engineering solutions
- Provide construction support and respond to field questions as needed

- 8–15+ years of structural engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis required
- EIT required or actively pursuing PE licensure
- PE license preferred but not required
- Strong experience with structural steel building design
- Experience preparing structural calculations and construction drawings
- Strong quality control and drawing review experience
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and review technical work
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience working on healthcare or hospital projects
- Experience with commercial and institutional structural projects
- Familiarity with structural analysis and design software
- Strong understanding of steel, concrete, masonry, and metal building systems
- Ambition to obtain or maintain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
