We are looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to support the Enterprise NEOS platform modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java-based application architecture, cloud-native development, and distributed systems. This role will focus on designing and guiding the implementation of scalable, resilient solutions built on AWS using Java Spring Boot microservices, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), Kafka, and Redis/Valkey.
This is a hands-on architecture role that requires close collaboration with development, DevOps, and product teams to define architecture standards, drive technical decisions, and support enterprise-scale application delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement cloud-native architectures on AWS.
Define and govern microservices architecture using Java and Spring Boot.
Architect scalable API platforms supporting high-volume enterprise applications.
Lead application modernization and migration initiatives to AWS.
Design and implement event-driven solutions using Kafka.
Define caching strategies and architecture using Redis/Valkey.
Provide architectural guidance for containerized applications running on Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
Establish best practices around scalability, resiliency, security, performance, and observability.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD and automated deployment strategies.
Conduct architecture reviews and mentor development teams on modern engineering practices.
Required Skills:
10+ years of software development experience with at least 3-5 years in an Architect role.
Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
Extensive experience designing Microservices-based applications.
Strong AWS Cloud experience and cloud-native application design.
Deep understanding of Docker containerization.
Strong Kubernetes (EKS) experience including deploying and managing containerized workloads.
Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
Experience with Redis, Valkey, or similar distributed caching technologies.
Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resiliency, and high-availability architectures.
Preferred Skills:
AWS EKS, ECS, API Gateway, Lambda, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch.
Strong experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design.
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
Monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, or Prometheus.
AWS Certifications preferred.
Experience working in large-scale enterprise modernization programs.

A hands-on AWS Cloud Architect with strong expertise in Java Spring Boot microservices running in Docker containers and Kubernetes (EKS). The candidate should have experience building event-driven systems with Kafka, implementing distributed caching solutions using Redis/Valkey, and architecting scalable cloud-native applications on AWS in a large enterprise environment.
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $36.98/hour - $57.79/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
