Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Manual Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate manual machining equipment to produce high-precision metal components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. Your expertise will contribute to the production of critical aerospace parts, ensuring they meet stringent quality standards through precise measurement and skilled craftsmanship. Duties
- Set up and operate manual machining tools such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines to produce precision metal parts
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine machining requirements
- Use measurement instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators for quality control and measurement verification
- Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for each project, ensuring optimal machining performance
- Perform machine setup procedures
- Conduct inspections of finished parts using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to ensure compliance with specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols at all times
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficiency in manual machining processes on lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining tools
- Experience with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and precision measuring instruments for quality control
- Familiarity with CNC concepts including CNC programming (G-code), CNC lathe/milling machine operation, and basic CNC setup is a plus but not required
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques is advantageous
- Ability to read blueprints accurately and apply GD&T standards effectively
- Skilled in tool selection, tooling setup, and machine calibration for high-precision manufacturing
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and conversions necessary in machining tasks
- Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of metal properties and machining techniques
- Experience with hand tools and power tools used in manual machining operations
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance during production processes
