Under the direction of the Operations Coordinator the Supervisor is responsible for assuring the general welfare, security and safety of the residents, staff, and facility at the shelter for mentally ill and medically frail homeless adult persons. This position is responsible for the supervision of residential workers, porters, and security (where applicable)..
Provide coverage for the general welfare and safety of the shelter residents, and staff.
Provide crisis prevention and intervention as needed.
Complete routine resident and facility checks to ensure that residents are not at risk and that the facility is free of potential hazards (leaks, fire, destruction of property, etc.)
Ensure nightly head count is completed (evening shift) and maintain CARES reports as assigned.
Record incidents and resident’s grievances appropriate in log book and on incident report.
Assign work-related projects to residence workers, security, and maintenance as needed.
Inspect all cleaning and service chores assigned to residence workers to ensure completion.
Conduct regular fire drills during day, evening, night and weekend shifts ensuring that all staff and residents follow procedure.
Interact with NYPD, EMS, NYFD, and know when it is appropriate to make emergency calls.
Interview and train residence workers as directed by leadership.
Provide coverage on an emergency basis when needed.
Arrange for coverage for current or following shift when necessary, including residence workers, security, or maintenance.
Other duties as assigned.
