SMR Rapid Response is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Field Service Technician (Laborer) to support our environmental, industrial, and emergency response operations.
This is a hands-on field position that involves working alongside our crews on projects such as spill response, industrial cleaning, vacuum truck operations, hydro excavation, tank cleaning, decontamination, remediation, waste handling, and site cleanup.
The ideal candidate is comfortable performing physical work, working outdoors, using tools and equipment, and assisting wherever needed to help complete projects safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with environmental cleanup, industrial cleaning, and emergency response projects
- Support vacuum truck, hydro excavation, and other field service operations
- Set up and break down hoses, pumps, vacuum lines, tools, containment, and jobsite equipment
- Perform manual labor including shoveling, lifting, loading, unloading, cleaning, and debris removal
- Assist with tank cleaning, pit cleaning, trench cleaning, equipment decontamination, and facility cleanup
- Help with spill containment, recovery, and remediation activities
- Support waste handling, packaging, loading, and site preparation activities
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas
- Follow all jobsite safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies
- Assist equipment operators, CDL drivers, supervisors, and project managers as needed
- Complete field paperwork, time sheets, inspection forms, and other required documentation
- Participate in emergency response work and on-call assignments when required
- Work safely around industrial equipment, commercial vehicles, chemicals, waste materials, and active jobsites
- Follow applicable OSHA, DOT, EPA, customer, and SMR Rapid Response safety requirements
- Perform additional duties based on project and operational needs
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to perform physically demanding field work
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, kneel, climb, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to work around industrial sites, environmental cleanup areas, and heavy equipment
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong attendance, reliability, and work ethic
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, nights, and emergency response assignments when needed
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening, drug testing, physical examinations, and safety training
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous environmental services experience
- Industrial cleaning or construction experience
- Vacuum truck or hydro excavation experience
- Spill response or remediation experience
- Tank cleaning or confined space experience
- Experience with pumps, hoses, pressure washers, hand tools, or industrial equipment
- OSHA, HAZWOPER, confined space, or other environmental safety training
- CDL Class A or Class B is a plus, but not required for all Field Service Technician positions
