Design Studio West - Junior Designer/Studio Assistant
Job Description:
Junior Designer/Studio Assistant position provides administrative and clerical support to the lead kitchen and bathroom designer(s) and a high-end design build showroom. Their tasks include tracking and monitoring projects, preparing construction drawings, 3D design renderings and digital material boards for client presentations. In addition, they are responsible for maintaining an orderly and up-to-date sample library for a high-end showroom environment. As an integral part of the team, they support achieving high quality deliverables and exceeding client expectations, while having fun at a high end, highly professional design build firm.
Essential Functions:
1. Track and monitor design projects.
- Set up new customer information in data base.
- Prepare, manage, and maintain all project files, correspondence, drawings, and job binders.
- Track and monitor purchase orders and receiving and disbursement of materials to job sites.
- Communicate with internal staff, clients, installation team and vendors regularly.
2. Design Support
- Create detailed construction drawing sets, including plans, elevations, and sections utilizing AutoCAD LT.
- Create 3D designs/renderings to illustrate cabinet configurations and material selections for bathrooms, kitchens, home offices, fireplaces, furniture layouts, etc.
- Prepare digital material boards for client meetings.
- Assist with on-site measurements and installations.
3. Research, and Specification of materials and finishes.
- Assist in the specification and research of materials, finishes, furnishings, lighting, accessories, etc.
- Call showrooms for pricing, check stock, lead-time, and order processing etc.
- Obtain samples for clients.
- Assist with the preparation of client proposals for approval and purchasing.
- Generate and process all purchase orders and log orders in Purchase Order in system
- Update specification and client folders on a regular basis
- Interact with product reps and maintain updated samples and pricing in showroom.
- Organize and maintain showroom sample libraries so they are up to date and orderly.
4. General administrative support
- Return all emails from vendors and clients in a timely fashion.
- Copy, scan, file, develop and send correspondence and other administrative tasks.
- Trouble shoot problems as they arise.
- Performs other job-related duties and errands as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Must have AutoCAD experience and proficiency as well as some form of 3D modeling experience with a program like Chief Architect or Sketchup.
- Must possess excellent computer, typing and organizational skills.
- Must have a car and valid license to get to jobsites and to run various errands (mileage to be reimbursed.)

Job Type: Full-time (9:00-5:00, Monday through Friday)
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Experience:
- Interior Design: 1 year (Preferred)
