Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optician / Sales Associate to join our dynamic optical team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for eye care, retail sales, and providing exceptional customer service. This role involves assisting patients with selecting eyewear, conducting basic vision assessments, and supporting clinical staff with optical and medical procedures. This position offers an opportunity to grow within a healthcare-focused retail environment while making a positive impact on patients’ vision health. We are looking to fill a full time position but are not apposed to working with someone looking for part time hours as well. Please have 3 years minimal experience in eyewear sales and the capability of repairing and adjusting glasses. Pay is based on experience.
Duties
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences.
- Conduct preliminary vision screenings and measure vital signs as part of routine patient assessments.
- Support the clinical team with laboratory tasks such as lens fitting, adjustments, and frame repairs.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Manage inventory of optical supplies, lenses, frames, and related products using retail math principles.
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care, lens options, and the importance of regular eye exams.
- Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eyefinity or similar platforms for documentation and scheduling.
- Assist in retail sales operations, including processing transactions, managing stock levels, and visual merchandising.
Skills
- Experience working with Eyefinity systems such as Encompass or other clinic management software.
- Retail management skills including retail math for inventory control and sales analysis.
- Laboratory experience with lens fitting, frame adjustments, and optical device handling.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse patient populations and team members.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of medical records and patient information.
