About the Role
Next Step Living is seeking a caring, dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a person-centered, community-based setting. DSPs play a vital role in helping individuals live as independently as possible while ensuring safety, dignity, and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support based on each person’s Individual Service Plan (ISP)
- Assist with daily living skills, including personal care, meal prep, household tasks, and medication reminders (as assigned)
- Support community engagement, social activities, and skill building
- Maintain accurate documentation of services, incidents, and progress
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and guardians
- Promote self-advocacy, independence, and person-centered decision making
- Follow all agency policies including confidentiality, safety, and abuse prevention
Qualifications
- Experience in human services or disability services preferred
- 18 years of age, or older
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to support individuals with varying needs respectfully and professionally
- Must pass background checks, training, and onboarding requirements
- Reliable, patient, and able to work independently and with a team
