General Summary:
Ensures vehicle components and finished products meet safety, functionality, and appearance standards by performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Inspect and provide verification of all prototype processes.
· Validate first piece product inspection.
· Proficiently use manual precision tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, thread gages, dial indicators) and, if required computerized, laser tracking, or video inspection equipment.
· Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming (defective) tools or materials, initiating reports to correct discrepancies.
· Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD data to determine inspection methods and specifications.
· Ensure inspection equipment is in calibration before use and maintain documentation for tool calibration.
· Maintain accurate records of inspection results, audits, and compliance documentation within the Quality Management System.
· Work with toolmakers and engineers to provide technical feedback and recommend improvements to tools or manufacturing processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Proficiency in reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
· Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
· Strong math skills for performing complex dimensional calculations.
· Understanding of automotive quality standards.
· Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel or ERP systems.
· Effective communication skills to collaborate with various departments within the organization.
Preferred Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED; technical trade school certificates a plus
· A minimum of 1-3+ years of experience in quality inspection within a tool and die, precision machine shop.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8-10 hours daily, overtime/weekend support as needed.
8 Hour Schedule 3:30pm to 12:00am
10 Hour Schedule 5:00pm-4:00am
Position is set in a manufacturing floor environment; requires standing for long periods and routinely uses large machines and tools.
