We are looking for a dependable, caring, and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to become part of our team. Position Summary: As a Direct Support Professional, you will assist individuals in maintaining a safe, supportive, and positive environment. Your role will focus on promoting independence, enhancing quality of life, and encouraging participation in daily routines and community activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance, including Hoyer lift transfers when necessary.
- Observe and document changes in health, behavior, and overall well-being, including recording vital signs as required.
- Administer medications in accordance with agency policies and under appropriate supervision.
- Prepare nutritious meals while following individual dietary plans and restrictions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe home environment.
- Implement individualized care plans and provide support for individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorders, hospice care needs, and other specialized services.
- Encourage social interaction, recreational activities, and community involvement to promote independence and personal growth.
- Protect the privacy and confidentiality of all individuals by following HIPAA regulations and agency policies.
- Work closely with supervisors, nurses, and other members of the care team to ensure quality, coordinated services.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a group home, assisted living facility, nursing home, home care, or a similar healthcare setting is preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities, dementia care, behavioral support, and basic health monitoring is an asset.
- Ability to safely assist with lifting, transferring, and repositioning individuals when needed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, patient, and professional approach to care.
