About Us
Social Design Studio is an award-winning boutique hospitality interior design firm specializing in restaurants, hotels, and lifestyle spaces. In addition to our design studio, we operate a procurement company and a growing e-commerce brand. We're looking for a highly organized, proactive bookkeeping professional who enjoys working with small businesses and wants to become a trusted part of our team.
This is primarily a remote position with the expectation of spending a few hours in our Scottsdale studio every other week for financial reviews, planning, and collaboration.
Position Summary
We're looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Finance Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial administration for three affiliated companies.
This person will own the bookkeeping process, keep our financial records current and accurate, communicate directly with our CPA, and help ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
The ideal candidate enjoys creating order, catching details before they become problems, and working independently while keeping leadership informed.
ResponsibilitiesWeekly
- Reconcile Bank of America accounts
- Reconcile American Express accounts
- Process and categorize QuickBooks transactions
- Maintain accurate financial records
- Monitor clearing accounts
- Ensure all expenses are categorized properly
- Follow up on missing documentation or receipts
Bi-Weekly
- Process payroll through Gusto
- Process contractor payments
- Review payroll reports for accuracy
Monthly
- Prepare and issue Design Services invoices
- File Arizona TPT returns (Supply Co.)
- Review financial reports for accuracy
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts
Quarterly
- Confirm payroll tax filings through Gusto
- Meet with the Owner to review financial health of all three companies
- Provide a concise "State of the Business" summary highlighting:
- Cash position
- Outstanding receivables
- Major expenses
- Profitability trends
- Areas requiring attention
Annual
- Process W-2s and 1099s through Gusto
- Renew Scottsdale Business Licenses
- Complete Arizona TPT renewals
- Prepare insurance reporting documents
- Coordinate year-end information with CPA

Ideal Qualifications
- 5+ years of bookkeeping experience
- Extensive QuickBooks Online experience
- Experience with Gusto Payroll preferred
- Experience with Shopify preferred
- Strong understanding of small business accounting
- Comfortable managing multiple entities
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-directed and highly organized
- Excellent written communication
- Experience working directly with CPAs
- Arizona-based preferred
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 90 days, you will:
- Keep all three companies fully reconciled and current.
- Ensure payroll runs accurately and on time.
- Maintain clean books ready for our CPA at any time.
- Identify issues before they become problems.
- Give leadership confidence that the financial back office is running smoothly.
Schedule
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week (depending on experience and efficiency)
- Flexible schedule
- Primarily remote
- Bi-weekly in-person meetings (approximately 2–4 hours) at our Scottsdale studio
Compensation
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
