Role Description The Surgical Medical Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY, supporting providers in surgical and cosmetic procedures. Responsibilities include preparing patients and procedure rooms, assisting in minor surgical and laser treatments, and ensuring that instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained. The role involves handling clinical documentation, maintaining accurate patient records, and supporting pre- and post-operative care under the supervision of medical staff. The Surgical Medical Assistant will also manage supplies, follow safety and infection control protocols, and help maintain a calm, professional environment that supports a positive patient experience. Collaboration with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff is essential to ensure efficient workflow and quality care.
Qualifications
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) only
- Candidates should possess skills related to the Operating Room environment, including familiarity with OR protocols and safety standards.
- Candidates should possess Surgical Assisting skills, such as supporting physicians during procedures and managing instruments and materials.
- Candidates should possess Surgical Technology skills, including understanding of surgical equipment, laser devices, and procedure setup.
- Candidates should possess foundational Medicine knowledge appropriate to a surgical cosmetic setting, including basic anatomy and clinical terminology.
- Candidates should possess Sterilization skills, including proper cleaning, packaging, and handling of instruments in accordance with infection control guidelines.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Medical Assistant, Surgical Technologist) and prior experience in a surgical, dermatology, or cosmetic practice are highly beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and the ability to work respectfully with patients of all backgrounds are important.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, follow detailed clinical instructions, and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with applicable regulations.
Pay: $25.00 - $37.00 per hour
