The Floor Care Technician is responsible for the overall cleanliness, maintenance, and care of floors in a healthcare, long-term care, or assisted living facility. This role involves cleaning, waxing, buffing, and polishing floors to ensure a safe, clean, and attractive environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The Floor Care Technician plays a key role in maintaining a high standard of hygiene and safety throughout the facility, ensuring compliance with all safety and health regulations.
Floor Cleaning and Maintenance:

Perform daily floor cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and removing stains from carpets and hard surfaces.

Buff, polish, and wax floors to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and shine.

Use specialized floor care equipment, such as scrubbers, buffers, and extractors, to deep clean floors and carpets.

Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on floor care equipment to ensure its proper operation.
Safety and Compliance:

Follow all facility safety protocols, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Ensure that floors are cleaned and maintained according to infection control guidelines, especially in high-traffic and healthcare areas.

Place safety signs and barriers around work areas to prevent slips, falls, and other hazards while cleaning.
Carpet Cleaning:

Perform regular carpet cleaning, including vacuuming, spot cleaning, and deep extraction, to remove dirt, stains, and allergens.

Use appropriate carpet cleaning chemicals and equipment to maintain the appearance and hygiene of carpeted areas.
Floor Buffing and Stripping:

Strip, wax, and buff hard floors to restore shine and protect surfaces from wear and tear.

Apply floor finishes and sealers as needed to maintain the durability and cleanliness of floors.

Use appropriate tools and chemicals to ensure that stripping, waxing, and buffing are done efficiently and safely.
Inventory and Supply Management:

Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.

Notify management when supplies need to be reordered and ensure that cleaning products are stored properly.

Ensure that all equipment is cleaned and maintained after each use, reporting any damage or malfunctions to management.
Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with housekeeping staff, maintenance teams, and management to ensure that all floor care needs are met.

Respond to requests for floor cleaning and maintenance services promptly and professionally.

Report any maintenance or safety issues observed during floor care duties to the appropriate department.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in floor care or environmental services is preferred, but not required. Training will be provided.

Ability to operate floor care equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and extractors.
