Duties
- Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes and local deliveries
- Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel efficiency
- Load and unload freight with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured according to safety standards
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous materials
- Manage delivery documentation accurately, including manifests, bills of lading, and inspection reports
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and maintenance needs are addressed promptly
- Assist with forklift operations or other equipment such as dump trucks or roll-off trucks when required for cargo handling or loading/unloading processes
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving across diverse routes and environments
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailer operations and logistics cargo handling techniques
- Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures for freight, hazardous materials, or dangerous goods
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred with endorsements for Hazmat or Tanker where applicable
- Experience operating manual transmission vehicles is advantageous
- Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance standards, and hazardous materials regulations for safe transportation practices
- Ability to handle manual tasks related to automobile transportation and cargo management efficiently
