The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department seeks a dynamic Parks District Manager to oversee maintenance operations across a geographically bound area containing up to 25 local parks. This role involves high-level administrative and supervisory work to ensure the safety, health, and enjoyment of park patrons and staff. Directs a large team of skilled and semi-skilled personnel; administers budgets; acts as a public relations contact and coordinates across various County departments and outside agencies. Handles diverse operations that range from traditional custodial care to campground oversight, island parks, parking fee program, and equipment repair. Must possess strong comprehensive knowledge of turf, landscaping, and facility maintenance, paired with strong planning and supervisory skills. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and evaluation of results obtained
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Parks Management or related field; minimum of two (2) years of formal or on-the-job training in park maintenance, forestry, landscaping, or related activity AND five (5) years of supervisory experience in park operations and maintenance or landscaping,
OR
-
An unrelated Bachelor’s Degree; minimum of three (3) years of formal or on-the-job training in park maintenance, forestry, landscaping, or related activity AND five (5) years of supervisory experience in park operations and maintenance or landscaping,
OR
-
An Associate’s Degree; minimum of five (5) years of formal or on-the-job training in park maintenance, forestry, landscaping, or related activity AND five (5) years of supervisory experience in park operations and maintenance or landscaping,
OR
-
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of ten (10) years of formal or on-the-job training in park maintenance, forestry, landscaping, or related activity AND five (5) years of supervisory experience in park operations and maintenance, or landscaping.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:

Bachelor’s Degree in Park Management, Forest Recreation, Resource-Based Outdoor Recreation, or Ornamental Horticulture,

Experience directing the work of a large landscape maintenance crew (10 or more) (must specify in application),

Experience coordinating shifting schedules, and
-
Experience using Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/Power Point.
