Overview – Mechanics must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, PTO’s and pumps. Perform preventative maintenance on all company vehicles and equipment. At any given time, the mechanic may be dispatched to a job site to fix an issue on a truck or equipment. Mechanics are required to use all safety equipment and perform tasks in a safe efficient manner.
Responsibilities –
- Show up daily and on time with a good attitude and a solid work ethic.
- Follow all OSHA/MSHA/Rundell Inc. safety and maintenance regulations; including but not limited to the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practice, making safety a top priority.
- Work with shop lead to properly prioritize work and complete within appropriate timelines.
- Use of sophisticated computer test equipment to be able to diagnose issues, read and follow diagnostic procedures.
- Performs equipment repairs in shop or field locations as requested.
- Determine when and perform routine maintenance on vehicles/heavy equipment to include oil changes, greasing and adding fluids, change filters and conduct preventive maintenance.
- The ability to troubleshoot problems and repair the following, diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, electrical and pneumatic systems, clutches, gearboxes, cooling systems, exhaust & hydraulic systems, brakes and suspension components on a variety of heavy equipment, trucks and trailers, making economical and durable repairs.
- Get water tenders, shop trucks, and equipment ready for fire season.
- Operates hand tools, pneumatic tools, electric tools and other various hand and power tools safely.
- Operates shop equipment to include welders, compressors, pressers, and other tools as required.
- Required to lift and carry 50lb, push and pull 100lbs using safety tools.
- Maintain and clean and organized work area.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Pre-Employment Requirements-
- Pass and submit a drug test
- Pass a background check
- Safety Performance History record request from prior employers (last 3 years)
- Prior diesel mechanic experience
- Basic knowledge of construction equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of tools applicable to position
- Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification (preferred)
Education, License, & Certifications Required
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have good driving record (MVR)
- Annual FMCSA Clearinghouse review
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
