Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Manager – Shared Services is to assist the Executive Director – Accounting Shared Services in managing the Shared Services accounting team, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and leading the month-end close process

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform various accounting functions including analysis of balance sheet accounts and operating department income statements, preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
Lead and mentor accounting staff in accordance with company standards and guidelines.
Prepare and review general ledger journal entries to account for transactions posted to the general ledger.
Reconcile and review balance sheet accounts.
Review profit and loss statements with assigned operating departments.
Prepare and review reports that summarize company business activities and financial positions in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present, and expected operations.
Interpret the meaning of accounting records, reports and accounting data to show the effects of proposed plans on Investments, income, cash position and overall financial condition.
Assist with Financial System administrative tasks.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

Draft memos to Shared Services management on accounting related issues.
Prepare and review general ledger journal entries to account for transactions posted to the general ledger.
Follow internal accounting policies and GAAP.
Administer the company chart of accounts and financial reports.
Safety is an essential function of this job.
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

21 years of age.
Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
5-8 years of previous accounting experience, with 2+ years of managerial or supervisory experience required.
Previous experience in the gaming and hospitality industry or public accounting preferred.
Certified Public Accountant preferred.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Gaming Control Board registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Must be able to

Lift or carry 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
