Front Office / Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Dual Role Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, dependable, and patient-focused Front Office / Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team. This is a dual-role position that is primarily front-office oriented, with the additional responsibility of maintaining an active CMA certification and cross-training to provide clinical coverage when needed.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing front-office responsibilities while remaining flexible and prepared to step into a clinical support role to help maintain smooth clinic operations during staffing shortages, increased patient volume, or other coverage needs.
Primary Front Office Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate patient referrals, including tracking and follow-up as needed.
- Process and respond to medical record requests in accordance with office procedures and privacy requirements.
- Manage the Doxy/Telehealth platform, including assisting with virtual visits and troubleshooting basic patient access issues.
- Confirm appointments for the upcoming week and ensure patients have the necessary appointment information.
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with questions, scheduling, and general needs.
- Check patients in and out for appointments.
- Collect copays, payments, and outstanding patient balances.
- Maintain accurate patient demographic, insurance, and appointment information.
- Provide a welcoming, professional, and efficient patient experience.
- Assist with other front-office administrative responsibilities as needed.
Clinical Coverage & Cross-Training
Although this position will be primarily front-office focused, the employee will maintain their CMA certification and receive cross-training to provide coverage for the clinical team when needed.
Clinical support responsibilities may include:
- Providing CMA coverage during staff absences, increased patient volume, or other clinic needs.
- Assisting with patient rooming and routine clinical workflows.
- Supporting clinical staff within the employee's training, certification, and scope of practice.
- Cross-training and providing coverage for Spravato and TMS services as needed.
- Maintaining familiarity with applicable clinical protocols and workflows.
- Assisting with other clinical duties as appropriate to support continuity of patient care.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
- Previous medical office or healthcare experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Professional, friendly, and patient-centered approach.
- Comfortable working with patients in person, by phone, and through telehealth platforms.
- Ability to handle confidential patient and medical information appropriately.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn and navigate multiple healthcare platforms.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a busy clinical environment.
- Willingness to cross-train and provide clinical coverage when needed.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing clinic needs.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who enjoys the front-office side of healthcare but also wants to utilize their CMA training and certification. This position is designed to be primarily focused on front-desk operations while providing the flexibility to step into a clinical support role when our current staff needs coverage.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
