About the Position:
We are looking for a caring, adaptable Hybrid Veterinary Assistant / Animal Caretaker / Receptionist to become part of our outpatient team. This multifaceted role blends patient handling, daily animal care, and client service. You’ll contribute to the full client experience—from greeting pets and their owners, to assisting doctors and technicians in exams, to supporting hospitalized or boarding patients to ensure they remain clean, safe, and comfortable.

Primary Responsibilities
Outpatient / Clinical Support:
- Safely handle and restrain canine and feline patients
- Collect and prepare diagnostic samples (ear cytology, FNA, fecal, urine, blood)
- Perform in-house testing (SNAP tests, urinalysis, Sedivue, etc.)
- Go over treatment plans and estimates with clients
- Keep exam rooms clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Accurately gather and update patient histories
- Educate clients on prevention, vaccination schedules, and medication use
- Administer oral, injectable, ophthalmic, and topical medications
- Assist with vaccine administration and monitor for reactions
- Help with medication requests and basic prescription filling
- Understand fundamental medication categories and potential side effects
- Assist with radiology setup and follow radiation-safety procedures
- Support e-collar sizing and basic nutritional guidance
Reception Responsibilities:
- Welcome clients and patients professionally and kindly
- Schedule appointments and help manage the daily calendar
- Answer multi-line phone calls and address common questions
- Enter and maintain accurate client/patient profiles in Cornerstone
- Provide reminders, estimates, and educational materials
- Invoice services and process payments
- Communicate clearly with clients in person, by phone, and via email
- Ensure smooth, accurate check-in and check-out processes
Animal Caretaker Responsibilities:
- Provide gentle, low-stress care for hospitalized and boarding pets
- Walk, feed, and observe animals following dietary and medical guidelines
- Clean kennels, wards, and shared animal spaces
- Note and report any changes in condition, appetite, or behavior
- Assist with bathing, nail trims, and light grooming as needed
- Make sure every pet has clean bedding, fresh water, and a secure environment
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous veterinary experience preferred but not required
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Comfort using computers; Cornerstone experience is a plus
- Organized, compassionate, and steady under pressure

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
