Position Summary
The Line Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising line crews engaged in the construction, rebuilding, upgrading, and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems for rural electric cooperatives and utility customers. This position is responsible for ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications, company standards, and customer requirements.
The Line Foreman serves as the primary field leader for assigned crews and is accountable for safety, productivity, quality, and effective communication with project management and cooperative representatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise line crews on distribution system rebuild, upgrade, and new construction projects.
- Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members.
- Conduct daily job briefings and safety meetings.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and customer specifications.
- Interpret staking sheets, construction drawings, maps, and project specifications.
- Monitor work quality and ensure installations meet cooperative and industry standards.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, and equipment to maintain project schedules.
- Train, mentor, and develop apprentices and crew members.
- Maintain accurate records including daily reports, time sheets, and equipment inspections.
- Work closely with project managers, cooperative personnel, inspectors, and landowners as needed.
- Promote a positive work environment focused on safety, teamwork, accountability, and professionalism.
- Ensure company vehicles, equipment, and tools are operated and maintained properly.
- Identify and communicate project challenges and recommend solutions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a recognized lineman apprenticeship program preferred.
- Journeyman Lineman certification preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of electrical distribution line construction experience.
- Previous foreman or crew leadership experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL required or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to read and interpret staking sheets, construction plans, and utility maps.

- Understanding of cooperative utility construction standards and practices.

- Ability to work effectively with customers, inspectors, and cooperative representatives.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to climb poles and work from aerial devices.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
Work Schedule and Travel
- This position follows a 7 days on / 7 days off hitch schedule.
- Scheduled work hitches begin on Wednesday and conclude on the following Tuesday.
- Employees work every other week, providing a full week off between hitches.
- Daily work hours may vary based on project requirements and weather conditions.
- Overtime may be required during scheduled work hitches to meet project deadlines.
- Travel to project locations is required.
- Project work is primarily performed throughout the State of Colorado for rural electric cooperatives and utility customers.
- Employees should be prepared to travel and work at various project locations within Colorado as assigned.
- Housing will be provided on a project-by-project basis if project is not located near home base.
Tools and Equipment
- Employees are expected to provide and maintain their own basic personal hand tools.
- Buffalo Utilities provides all major line construction equipment, vehicles, specialty tools, safety equipment, and materials required for project work.
- Employees are responsible for the proper use and care of company-owned equipment and property.

Pay: $48.00 - $52.00 per hour
