Marissa Collections, a luxury retailer located in Palm Beach, is seeking a high end fashion Alteration Specialist with the following qualifications and experience:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Take precise measurements of the client's body to ensure a perfect fit. This may involve using a variety of measuring tools to gather detailed data
- Participate in fittings with the client during the garment's alterations to make necessary adjustments and ensure a perfect fit. This may involve alterations to the pattern or the garment itself.
- Pay attention to intricate details, such as hand-stitched buttonholes, hand-sewn hems, and other hand-finishing techniques that are characteristic of high-end tailoring, including hand sewing beaded/sequin gowns and other garments.
- Use advanced sewing techniques to construct, repair, or alter garments and other textile items. This includes sewing seams, hems, zippers, and other fasteners with precision and attention to detail.
- Inspect the final garment to ensure it meets the highest quality standards and matches the client's expectations.
- Provide exceptional customer service, including clear communication and meeting deadlines.
- Ensuring that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working order.
- Fitting garments on customers to determine how the alterations should be done.
- Labeling customers' garments and articles and recording the alterations required.
- Communicating with customers to determine their specifications, needs, and preferences.
- Using irons and pressing machines to erase the creases on garments and other articles.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience has a seamstress and or altereation specialist
- Retail environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experince in hand-beading and sewing; bridal and eveningwear experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions, policies and procedures.
- Ability to speak effectively and respectfully before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to converse adequately in English
- Perform fittings and complete alterations in a precise, accurate, timely manner
- Comfortable with utilizing an industrial sewing machine, serger, and iron; working knowledge of reweaving techniques and embroidery is a plus
- Able to work as part of a team and open to sharing work to meet deadlines
