Bookkeeper — In-House · Jacksonville, FL
VizzaLights, LLC is hiring an experienced full-charge Bookkeeper to own our accounting functions.
What We Do:
We are a home service business that installs permanent architectural lighting — a low-voltage system that disappears into a home's roofline during the day and lights the house at night. We are growing our company across Northeast Florida and looking for the right team members to grow with us.
If you have ever wanted to have the opportunity to create your systems and processes, this role is for you. You'll run the Chart of Accounts, the General Ledger, payroll, job costing, and the monthly close, reporting directly to the founder. You'll have real authority over how the financial function is structured — and the standards you set here are the ones every future location will operate under.
What You'll Own
The books
- Own and maintain the Chart of Accounts and the General Ledger
- Record and review journal entries; run the monthly close
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and merchant processing accounts
- Produce a P&L, Balance Sheet, and cash flow statement on a fixed close calendar
Payroll
- Run payroll for our W-2 office and field employees, including piece-rate installer pay, weekly guarantees, and completion bonuses
- Handle payroll tax deposits, quarterly filings, W-2s, and 1099s
- Keep employee records, withholdings, and direct deposits
AP, AR, and job costing
- Process vendor bills
- Track customer payments and invoices
- Maintain job-level costing so gross margin is visible on every install
- Track imported inventory at landed cost — product, freight, duty, customs (we understand this is a more specialized function; if not experienced, we are willing to assist with training for the right candidate)
Compliance and admin
- File Florida sales and use tax returns
- Keep documentation audit-ready for workers' comp, general liability, and tax
- Track licenses, permits, insurance certificates, and renewal dates
Some HR (a plus, not a requirement).
- New-hire onboarding: offer letters, I-9, W-4, E-Verify, new hire reporting
- Personnel files, PTO tracking, handbook upkeep
What We're Looking For
Required
- 3+ years of full-charge bookkeeping
- QuickBooks (Online or Desktop), including class/job tracking and custom reporting
- Payroll processing and payroll tax filing experience
- Strong reconciliation discipline
- Experienced with Excel or Google Sheets (formulas, pivot tables)
- Able to work in-house at our Jacksonville office — this role is not remote or hybrid
- Complete discretion with financial and personnel information
Preferred
- Experience in home services-related businesses (construction, HVAC, roofing, solar, landscaping, outdoor lighting, etc.)
- Job costing / work-in-progress accounting
- Inventory accounting, especially imported goods and landed cost
- Florida sales and use tax filing
- HR administration exposure
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
Why This Role Is Different
Most bookkeeping jobs are maintenance—maintaining a system built by someone else years earlier that may not even fit the current business's needs. That is not this role. You will be involved in determining how jobs are costed, how the Chart of Accounts is structured, and how the close runs. These are the functions you will be involved in creating and implementing.
You'll work directly with the founder, and your numbers will drive real decisions — what we charge, where we expand, and how fast we hire. If you've spent years wishing someone would let you fix the system instead of just feeding it, this is the job for you.
Pay: $26.85 - $32.34 per hour
