Help build the legal function of an AI-native biotechnology company.
We are seeking an entrepreneurial attorney to serve as Chief Counsel for a rapidly growing biotechnology startup. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of business, technology, healthcare, and law.
You will be responsible for commercial contracts, corporate governance, financing and corporate filings, board support, regulatory matters, and management of outside counsel. The role also includes oversight of routine litigation, employment matters, intellectual property coordination, and legal risk management.
Qualifications
- Active Delaware license or eligibility to practice by waiver (required)
- California admission preferred
- 7+ years of corporate and commercial legal experience, ideally including startup or venture-backed companies
- Experience negotiating commercial agreements and supporting financing, governance, and strategic transactions
- Comfortable managing litigation and outside counsel rather than serving as day-to-day trial counsel
- Exceptional judgment, drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
