The Markeing and Event Specialist is responsible for crafting and coordinating a diverse range of community events. These events are designed not only to entertain local residents but also to attract visitors from beyond the City's borders. Works closely with the Director of Marketing and Tourism, playing a key role in programs and events that drive tourism to the city. Flexibility in scheduling, including occasional late nights and weekends, is required to ensure event success.
Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Event Coordination: Create and coordinate community events that engage local residents and attract visitors to Tomball. Assist the Director of Marketing and Tourism in developing programs and events focused on tourism promotion.
- City Festival Operations: Oversee the logistical planning of city festivals and municipal events. Serve as the primary point of contact for food, craft, and attraction vendors, managing assignments and collecting payments. Arrange rental equipment, hire entertainment/talent, plan kids’ activities, and secure all event resources.
- Marketing/Graphic Design: Develop engaging event logos for the city’s marketing and social media platforms. Promote events through local web publications and targeted school and community advertising.
- Administrative Support: Facilitate workflow for administrative assistants by assigning tasks, providing training, and offering guidance. Attend city events as needed to capture and edit photographs, maintaining an image library for promotional purposes.
- Event Team Meetings: Prepare and provide comprehensive information for the city’s event team meetings. Coordinate meeting logistics, prepare documents, and facilitate event-related discussions.
- Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for special events. Source volunteers from vendors and other community contacts to support city festivals and community programs.
- Sponsorship Procurement: Secure sponsorships for events, cultivating partnerships that enhance event success.
- Additional Duties: Contribute to team efforts by performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years previous relevant work experience is required.
Certifications: Food Handlers Certificate
Licensing: Valid Driver's License
