Tide Pool Counseling is seeking a Full-Time Outpatient Play Therapist to join our growing practice. We are looking for a clinician who enjoys working with children and families and is passionate about creating a safe, relational, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic environment.
This position is ideal for a therapist who enjoys working with children (3 and up) and their families using play therapy, art therapy, attachment-based interventions, somatic, and/ or other expressive, humanistic modalities.
Position Details
Job Title: Full-Time Outpatient Play Therapist
Employment Classification: Hourly, W-2, Non-Exempt
Clinical Hours: 20+ direct clinical hours per week
Location: Hybrid — in-person at our Raleigh, NC office and virtual
Schedule: Flexible hours
Pay: $55+ per clinical hour
Schedule Requirements
We offer flexibility in scheduling; however, clinicians must be willing to work evenings until at least 6:00 PM at least two days per week and/or a weekend day in order to accommodate client and family scheduling needs.
Clinicians are expected to maintain a minimum of 20 clinical hours per week.

Responsibilities may include:
- Providing individual, family, and/or parent-focused outpatient therapy
- Utilizing play therapy and developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions
- Developing individualized treatment plans and providing ongoing clinical assessment
- Maintaining timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Collaborating with parents and caregivers to support treatment goals
- Participating in case consultation and clinical supervision
- Maintaining professional and ethical standards consistent with state and professional requirements
- Collaborating with referral sources and other providers when appropriate and with appropriate client consent
- Supporting children and families experiencing emotional, behavioral, relational, developmental, and adjustment-related concerns
- Engaging in ongoing professional development and continued learning
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related mental health field from an accredited university.
Licensure:
- Must hold a valid North Carolina associate or full clinical license in social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or an equivalent behavioral health discipline.
- Examples may include LCSWA, LCSW, LCMHCA, LCMH, LMFTA, LMFT, or equivalent North Carolina credential.
Experience:
- Clinical experience working with children and families is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with formal training in play therapy.
