HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic Job Description:
Superior Skilled Trades is seeking an experienced HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic to join a commercial HVAC team based in New London, Connecticut. This position involves the fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of commercial HVAC sheet metal systems. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of reading blueprints and specifications while delivering quality workmanship in a safe and professional manner.
Qualifications for HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic:
Connecticut Sheet Metal 2 License required
Minimum of 5 years of commercial HVAC sheet metal experience
Valid driver's license required
Strong mechanical aptitude
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and product specifications to determine fabrication and installation methods.
Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal products and HVAC components.
Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines using templates and measuring tools.
Set up and operate fabrication equipment including shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers.
Train and mentor apprentices as needed.
Coordinate work with supervisors, crew members, and other trades on the job site.
Maintain all required trade licenses and certifications.
Attend all required safety training.
Follow all safety policies and procedures while utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean, professional appearance and interact courteously with customers.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Must pass a 5-panel drug screen.
Must pass a 7-year background check.
Ability to work in a commercial construction environment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly walk, stand, climb ladders and stairs, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and use hands for repetitive tasks.
Frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying job site conditions.
Must wear all required personal protective equipment and maintain a clean, professional appearance.
