Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of dental procedures, excellent patient care skills, and proficiency with dental software systems. As a Registered Dental Assistant, you will support dentists in delivering high-quality dental care, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining efficient clinic operations. Your role will be vital in fostering a welcoming environment while adhering to all safety and privacy regulations.
Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, orthodontic, prosthodontic, pediatric, oral surgery, endodontic, and periodontal treatments.
- Take and record vital signs and medical histories to assist in patient assessment and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures.
- Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and coordinating with the dental receptionist.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain the privacy of all patient information.
- Support the dental team by managing medical coding and documentation for insurance claims and billing processes.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent licensure.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry with familiarity in specialties such as orthodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and periodontics.
- Proficiency with dental software systems including Eaglesoft and Dentrix for managing medical records and clinical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Ability to perform patient assessments accurately and efficiently while maintaining a compassionate approach.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
- Prior experience working in a busy dental clinic environment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical coding practices related to dental procedures is an advantage.
