Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Dietary Cook to join our Food & Nutrition Services team in a skilled nursing facility. The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals in accordance with physician-ordered diets, resident preferences, and all applicable Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) and federal regulations.
The ideal candidate is organized, food safety–focused, and committed to providing high-quality service to our residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and production sheets
- Follow therapeutic diet guidelines, including modified textures and special dietary restrictions (e.g., low sodium, diabetic, renal, mechanical soft, pureed)
- Ensure proper portion control and food presentation
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Monitor food temperatures and maintain temperature logs
- Assist with food inventory, storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO method)
- Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and properly maintained
- Work collaboratively with the Dietary Manager and interdisciplinary team
- Assist with special events and holiday meals as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in institutional, healthcare, or long-term care food service preferred
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and texture modifications strongly preferred
- ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment screening

- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment
Pay: $18.50 - $21.50 per hour
