American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a CVOR/Cardiovascular OR position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated hospital in Oak Lawn, IL, requiring scrub and circulate skills for adult and pediatric open-heart cases.

Work setting is a 794-bed, Level I Trauma Center with Magnet Designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center status, located approximately 45 minutes from Chicago

Unit is a 28-bed surgical suite with 2 hybrid rooms (CV/Vascular), averaging 60–75 cases per day
-
Patient population includes outpatient, inpatient, and trauma cases spanning general, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, open hearts/CABGs, kidney and heart transplants, donor cases, and GSWs/stabbings
-
Hybrid rooms see 5–10 cases per day (adults only), including TAVR, AAA, endarterectomies, angiograms, and fistula revisions

Approximately 20% of cases are pediatric (open hearts, appendectomy, cholecystectomy); no liver or lung transplants

The OR operates 24/7, 365 days per year; M–F 0730–2300 with skeleton crew after 2300 for trauma/urgent cases; Sat–Sun 0700–1700 with skeleton crew after 1700

Schedule is rotation-based on a 6-week cycle; self-scheduling is not available

Shift options include 10-hour days (0645–1515), as well as evening, night, and various 8/12-hour combinations

Weekend rotation: every 4th weekend (Saturday–Sunday)

On-call is required depending on shift/service line; must take 1 full weekend of call per month (Fri–Sun) and 1 weekday call per month (totaling approximately 125 call hours/month); 30-minute response time required

A sleeping room is available for on-call team members

Holiday coverage required: 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday

EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis

Active IL RN license required
-
Current BLS certification required

Minimum 2–3 years of acute care OR/CVOR experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Ability to scrub and circulate adult and/or pediatric open-heart cases required

Level I or II trauma experience required

Critical care experience required
-
Epic EMR experience required

At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the last year
-
Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Participates in Gifts of Hope (organ donation) cases

Orientation includes meeting educators and the ANM, obtaining system access, completing online modules and Epic training on day 1, followed by 2 days of unit orientation

Department support includes a charge nurse (no patient assignment M–F), anesthesiologist bedside monitoring, resource nurse, surgeons with preference cards, ANM, educators, service line reps, and an Epic super-user

Scrubs are provided by the facility
