General Description
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for employees, and helping manage payroll-related functions in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a dynamic construction environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Administration:
- Assist with the complete payroll process, including calculating wages, processing timekeeping data, and ensuring accurate paychecks.
- Administer various types of employee compensation, including regular salaries, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholding, wage and hour laws, and other legal requirements.
- Prepare and submit required payroll reports, including tax filings, and benefit-related reports.
Data Management:
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records, including personal information, employment status, and pay history.
- Monitor changes in payroll data, such as new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary adjustments.
System Management:
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of payroll software and systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in payroll processing.
- Coordinate with IT and software vendors to resolve any issues related to payroll systems.
Employee Support:
- Address and resolve employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll, including discrepancies, deductions, and tax issues.
- Provide guidance to employees on payroll-related matters and ensure clear communication regarding payroll policies and procedures.
Audit and Reconciliation:
- Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Team Leadership:
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment within the payroll team.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance payroll operations and efficiency.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience in completing payroll.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling payroll data and calculations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex payroll issues.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and management.
Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
WORK EXPERIENCE requirements
Minimum of 1 year of experience in payroll operations, with a strong understanding of payroll processing, tax regulations, and labor laws.
