Overview
This position is responsible for the efficient and high quality performance of a variety of plumbing, HVAC and related jobs requiring a good knowledge of these trades. Specific instructions are received regarding tasks to perform and sometimes how to perform them. Immediate supervision may be exercised over the work of a laborer or maintenance worker. Does related work as required.
Duties
- Lays out working details of and does skilled work involved in installing, maintaining, repairing and altering water and sewage systems, sinks, toilets, showers, ice machines, water softeners, etc.;
- Does steam fitting and pipe fitting work with a variety of materials;
- Inspects and tests pipe lines and plumbing;
- Repairs, maintains and/or installs water chillers, dishwashers, garbage disposal units, gas ranges, fryers, etc.
- Repairs, maintains and/or installs gas and oil fired steam boilers, oil and gas fired hot water boilers, oil and gas fired warm air furnaces, heat exchangers and heat pumps;
- Perform minor HVAC repair and maintenance as needed;
- May be required to perform other maintenance or labor tasks as directed.
Experience
(a)Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and completion of an apprenticeship program with the Pipefitter’s union and two (2) years of full time paid experience performing duties in the plumbing trade; OR
(b)Graduation from a New York State registered or regionally accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in a plumbing field and eight (8) of full time paid experience performing duties in the plumbing trade; OR
(c)Graduation from high school or completion of a high school equivalency diploma and completion of a certificate program in a plumbing field and nine (9) years of full time paid experience performing duties in the plumbing trade; OR
(d)Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and ten (10) years of full time paid experience performing duties in the plumbing trade.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously throughout the duration of employment.
Pay: $31.67 per hour
