Lead Teacher
Crowned Kids Academy (CKA)
Position Summary
Crowned Kids Academy is seeking an experienced, dependable, and enthusiastic Lead Teacher to provide high-quality care and education while leading a classroom team. The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment, implementing curriculum, maintaining licensing compliance, and serving as a positive role model for children and staff.
Essential Responsibilities
Classroom Leadership
- Lead and supervise daily classroom operations.
- Guide and support assistant teachers and classroom staff.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional classroom environment.
- Ensure children are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
Curriculum & Instruction
- Implement The CKA Experience™ curriculum with fidelity.
- Develop and carry out age-appropriate lesson plans and activities.
- Promote children’s cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development.
- Observe and document children’s progress.
Licensing & Safety
- Maintain compliance with Indiana child care licensing regulations.
- Ensure classroom ratios are maintained at all times.
- Conduct daily health and safety checks.
- Keep the classroom clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
- Follow all health, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
Family Engagement
- Build positive relationships with families.
- Communicate daily with parents regarding their child’s progress and needs.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in family events and conferences as needed.
Team Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Director and other staff.
- Assist with training and mentoring new employees.
- Attend required staff meetings and professional development.
- Help create a positive workplace culture.
- Volunteer work in the community required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential preferred or willingness to obtain within a timeframe approved by Crowned Kids Academy.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a licensed child care center preferred.
- Must meet Indiana qualifications for a Lead Teacher.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Successful completion of all required state and federal background checks.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children throughout the day.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Schedule
- Full-time or part-time opportunities available.
- Monday through Friday.
- Schedule based on classroom needs.
