Stephens County is seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Permit Technician to join our Planning Department. This position serves as the first point of contact for residents, contractors, business owners, and developers while supporting the County's building permitting process.

No previous permitting experience? No problem. Stephens County is willing to train the right candidate.
What You'll Do
As the Permit Technician, you'll play an important role in keeping the Planning Department running smoothly by:
- Greeting customers in person and by telephone.
- Assisting homeowners, contractors, developers, and business owners with permit applications.
- Reviewing permit applications for completeness.
- Processing residential building permits.
- Scheduling inspections.
- Coordinating inspection requests with the Building Inspector.
- Maintaining electronic permit records.
- Processing permit payments.
- Issuing permits after approvals are received.
- Assisting customers throughout the permitting process.
- Helping ensure projects move efficiently from application to completion.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one (1) year of customer service, clerical, administrative, retail, banking, hospitality, or other public-facing experience.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to learn new software and department procedures.
Previous permitting or local government experience is not required.
Stephens County is willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates professionalism, strong customer service skills, and the ability to learn.
