Position Summary
AWM Fulfillment is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Mechanic to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of material handling equipment, conveyors, packaging systems, and facility assets. This role is responsible for minimizing downtime, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and ensuring equipment reliability within a fast-paced fulfillment environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on fulfillment center equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair conveyors, sortation systems, packaging machinery, carts, pallet jacks, and related equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and resolve potential equipment failures.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize operational disruption.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair documentation.
- Support facility maintenance including lighting, doors, docks, and minor building repairs.
- Follow all OSHA, company safety, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Collaborate with operations teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and recommend replacement parts as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, uptime, and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or fulfillment environment.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a warehouse environment.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including occasional evenings or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade school certification or technical training.
- Experience with Amazon, e-commerce, distribution, or high-volume fulfillment operations.
- Forklift certification.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and PLC-controlled equipment.
- CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, climb, and reach.
- Ability to work at heights and in varying warehouse temperatures.
- Ability to safely lift and move maintenance tools and equipment.
