Concrete Finisher
Located in Yuma, Arizona, DPE Construction is a family-owned business that was first established in 1979 as a civil engineering and construction surveying firm. Over the last 45 years, the organization has transformed into a heavy-civil operation that has the capability to self-perform all earthwork, paving, concrete, and underground utility scopes of work on your job site. SUMMARY
This individual should be able to perform such tasks as building and setting forms for curb, gutters, sidewalk, slabs, ect. They are responsible for smoothing out, leveling and finishing freshly poured concrete at construction sites. They work directly under the Concrete Foreman and Concrete Superintendent.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them.
- Spread, level, and smooth concrete using a variety of methods: rake, shovel, hand/ride on/power trowel, screed, float.
- Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedges.
- Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete.
- Operate power vibrator to compact concrete.
- Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools.
- Be able to achieve desired finish (broom, smooth, ect) easily and as specified.
- Have the ability and knowledge to assist in placing/bending/cutting/tying rebar as needed.
- Good housekeeping and general cleanup are the responsibility of the entire crew, including concrete finishers.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner with fellow crew members.
- The ideal candidate will display the knowledge, skill, and ability of all of the above and will require very limited direction and supervision to perform the task at hand.
- Special consideration will be given to individuals who are ACI certified and/or have OSHA 10/30 complete.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing this job, the employee will frequently be required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and should have the ability to lift/carry materials up to 50 pounds.
